St Valentine’s was early this year…

You know how cheesy St Valentine’s tends to be right? Flowers, chocolates, jewellery and who knows what else… And the even worse part is that it’s everywhere! Hearts, balloons, teddy bears…

Well, my husband and I are quite ordinary when it comes to daily life and we do follow traditions, even the cheesy ones like this but we also like to add our little twist. So this year, we decided that St Valentine’s will be all about gaming. What you should know about us is that we play, a lot and we mostly play pc games. I won’t mention any here as this is not what this is about. But one more thing that you should know, about me this time, is that I hate wasting money on anything-computer related (even a pc itself). My pc is quite old and I’m trying, the last 6 months to convince myself to buy a new one. Not that I don’t want to, but each time I make up my mind, something new is out there that I tend to like more! But this is not what this post is about either…

This post is about 2 new beauties that joined me on my desk, and one old one that made its way from my husband’s desk to mine…

And this is their story:

I never wanted or needed a gaming mouse or keyboard or anything of this sort. For me, these were always meant for hardcore gamers, streamers, professionals of some sort (please don’t point out where I work). I never felt the need to have a good keyboard as most of the time it ends up swimming in whatever drink I used to hold in my hand 2 minutes ago. For a mouse-pad I’ve been using a big piece of felt for the last 2 years (tbh it worked quite well, it’s just a pain to clean). As for a mouse, I have normal sized hands for a woman but I have always found that any gaming-mouse you’d give me would feel way too big and uncomfortable to me.

That all, came to change a couple of months ago… I got offered at work, 3 Nyths to give out for a contest in one of the games I work on. I was really looking forward to it as I generally like the way all ROCCAT stuff look and let’s be honest I was super excited about running a contest with something as cool as this to give away as a prize. Of course in these type of partnerships, since there is some work in the background (having to sort out assets, preparing texts for the contest etc) there is also a little research that needs to be done. Nothing major really and maybe I could have skipped it but since I saw the mouse looked pretty cool, I had to find out a little more about it, right? So basically, I checked *a bit* on ROCCAT’s website to see what makes this specific mouse so special and so good for MMOs, there is no reason to tell you in here, you probably know it already, if not you can read it by clicking *here*, but yes, I checked a bit around and I’ll admit it, I liked what I saw! The only problem: TOO big for my hand. As every other mouse… So I dropped whatever thoughts I had in the back of my mind…

The contest ran, we got great participations, we got all our 3 winners, we send them the mice and… I also sent each of them an email, the day I delivered the mice to our reception to be shipped telling them that their prize is on its way and to let me know when they receive it and if they like it. Which they did. All 3 of them. All 3 of them thanked me and told me they loved it. At this point, the thoughts are back in my mind again…

So I went to Saturn… I had to be able to see (out of the package) and even touch this mouse that made me drool for a month already. So there it was, all pretty, matte (I hate non-matte mice, go figure really), anyway, there it was and there I was, loving this mouse which was just TOO big! So reality hit once more and I dropped it.

Then… A while ago, while chatting on twitter I stumbled upon someone that had a Nyth in their twitter account pictures and I asked him if he’d recommend it. I also told him that I like it but I find it too big and there he was… answering me… telling me he would indeed recommend it and not to worry because this mouse is magic and its magic is called “side-grip”, which was probably the only paragraph I skipped while reading about the Nyth on the ROCCAT website (I do those things a lot)…

So there I was, back in Saturn, checking if the mouse I saw and tried last time has the big grip or the small one. And yes, it had the big one, which meant it can go smaller than that. So, I happily announced to my husband that I’d like a Nyth and a Taito (3mm) for St Valentine’s and I’d appreciate if he could buy me in the future a nice keyboard to go with them (I’m a girl, I need them to match, don’t judge me!). Lucky me, since my husband decided he wanted a new gaming keyboard for St Valentine’s he asked me if I’d like to take over his Isku, to which I agreed after he assured me, that pretty much nothing will happen to it if I drown it in tea, coffee or whatever I will be holding on top of it for 2 minutes (he was right btw, I dropped cereals and milk on it yesterday and I’m typing on it right now without any problems).

Well now… Since this week I am on vacation and since I am sick since last Friday from the moment I left work, St Valentine’s decided to come early to our crazy house so I got to open these on Saturday to cheer myself up a bit:

So now I get to do some serious gaming, I will obviously still suck but I will do it in style!

Kept the best for last as you can see (plus it took me a while to figure out how to set it free from the package but that’s a whole other story that lasted like 15 minutes – I’m stupid with packages really). And, I would hate to not mention it but… the Nyth comes with this case:

so you can store the different buttons that you are not using and the side-grip and keep everything in there neatly!

The mouse is still kinda big for what I am used to for the past years but it is very comfortable to work with and the size really doesn’t bother me at all, I mean come on, I’ve handled bigger things (I didn’t just say that! xD). Also it’s much more “sensitive” compared to what I had before (not on movement but on clicks), which takes some time to get used to as well (the side-buttons also take some time but I was warned about that). I’ve honestly not liked ANY other mouse that much EVER! If you are one of these people that like to click around like maniacs and that makes your day I wouldn’t recommend this mouse to you, this mouse is smoooooooooth! I am one of the other people, so if you belong to us, quiet-clickers that don’t need to turn even the simplest web-browsing into a moba experience, oh my… what are you waiting for?

Before I close this post, I would like to remind my husband, that as I mentioned above, I am a girl and I need things to match and I kinda feel like I’m going to need a headset to go with my new babies here… Just saying…

Thank you for reading all this!
